Incredible Organic Garden Haul: Check Out Today’s Harvest!

Thriving Squash, Vibrant Beans, and Prolific Cucumbers

In the keyhole raised bed my squash plants have done quite well this time around, but my special interest lies in the Castado Romesco, which is an Italian strain, and so far, it has brought forth a significant amount of squash. The vine coils itself around the bed with each branch yielding several heads of squash that vary in size. Some of them are already maturing others are still growing and This always adds texture and color to the garden. And from a closer look, there’s even more squash that will be ready in the next few weeks.

Apart from that, purple beans also grew along the fence line where there were scanty beans. But the beans were yellow and bore substantial flowers that made a gorgeous aesthetic contrast with the scarlet runners that grew nearby. Beans and runners are a source of beauty and sustenance as well, guaranteeing a sufficient quantity of food throughout the season.

Cucumbers have been another highlight this year. This time around, I went for a few Japanese cucumber varieties, and they have performed excellently in taste as well as in yields. Although they start out small, the cucumbers rapidly mature with some attaining very good sizes. Their mild taste makes them ideal for eating raw or for pickling, and I never fail to get more fresh ones as the season rolls on. It seems each vine produces quite a number of cucumbers thus it makes a good crop to grow.

Cabbage

Cabbage was sown on some patches earlier in the season, but since the cucumbers have spread so much in the area, I will after harvest be putting in new crops like cabbage. This will provide me an opportunity to grow diverse vegetables in one section while the phase of growth of other vegetables is ending.

Eggplants

Eggplants, too, have made their mark in my garden. The coloration of Nintendo’s Lovely was impressive, and so was Antiqua Stop Away with its white and purple coloration. These eggplants not only assured beauty, but also many crops of eggplant over the season.

As for my peppers, such as the Gilboa Orange variety, those have been growing great this year. These chilies grow over large sizes and thus I grew them for taste as well as bringing in some colors into the garden. Together with these, the Rosa Bianca eggplants are also in good necks with the fresh produce, giving off a sweet taste and blend very well with food.

Tomatoes and Ground Cherries

Tomatoes appear to be in my future. One crop matures alongside another’s harvest, which creates an impression of an unending supply. Another improvement is the ground cherry, which is harvested on the coming winter as it grows in small husk that protect the edges. The raw ground cherry’s flavor is unusual, and sweet fruits are delicious as they are collected from the ground before fully ripening.

To make the garden more beautiful, I have also sown zinnias. Their colorful shapes and their bloom span compliments the productivity of the crops, enhancing the visual look of the harvest. In the same way that Dragon Tongue beans continue to mature and be harvested which adds on to the colorful and savory mix, so too do the zinnias.
